Sign-Tech

The custom sign editor: stacked layers of text, shapes and noise with colour, masking and warps.

V3.0 overhauled every sign in the game with the new Sign-Tech system, filling towns, shops and ruins with thousands of readable environmental signs. The same tools are yours: canvas and decal signs come in sizes from 1x1 up to 3x3 and larger, and each sign is built from stacked layers you can move, scale, colour and warp. POI creators also get Sign-Tech in the level editor.

Layer types
GroupGroup: nests layers together so they transform and warp as one.
NoiseNoise: procedural grunge and texture to weather a sign.
PolygonShapes: polygons with adjustable sides, smoothness, softness and star points.
TextText: any string in the game font, positioned and scaled freely.
Layer warps

Any layer can be bent with one of these warps:

Layers combine with an RGBA colour picker, so you can tint, mask one layer against another, or punch a shape out of the layer below. The game ships sample signs (Poopy Pants, Buy-N-Go, DP Gas, Gonuts Donuts, Bad & Ugly, Mask Demo) that show the system off.

Where this comes from

Layer types, warps and modes are read from the V3.2 signs.xml. The full V3.2 feature list is on the changelog.
