Crossplay

Yes: PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S play together. Here is exactly how it works and what a server needs.

The short answer

7 Days to Die supports crossplay between PC (Steam and the Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Everyone can share one world whether it is a hosted game or a dedicated server, as long as the server follows the console compatibility rules below. The old 2014 console edition on PS4 and Xbox One is a separate legacy game with no crossplay, and there is no version for the Nintendo Switch.

What does not cross over
  • Progression: saves and characters stay on their platform. Crossplay is shared live multiplayer, not cross-save.
  • Mods: consoles can only join unmodded servers, since crossplay requires Easy Anti-Cheat with vanilla game files.
  • Player count: a crossplay-compatible server is capped at 8 players. Larger servers are PC-only.
Dedicated server settings consoles require

PC players can join a dedicated server regardless of its settings. For console players to join, the server's serverconfig.xml must match these values, from the official requirements:

SettingRequired value
ServerMaxPlayerCount8 or lower
ServerAllowCrossplayTrue
EACEnabledTrue
IgnoreEOSSanctionsFalse

Gameplay settings also have to stay inside console-approved ranges. Anything outside these makes the server invisible to console players:

SettingValid range for crossplay
XPMultiplier25 to 300
DayNightLength10 or higher
BloodMoonEnemyCount4 to 64
AirDropFrequency24 or higher
BlockDamagePlayer25 to 300
BlockDamageAI25 or higher
BlockDamageAIBM25 or higher
LootAbundance200 or lower
LootRespawnDays5 or higher

Playing together, quickly

  1. One player hosts a game or rents a dedicated server with the settings above.
  2. Friends on other platforms connect through the in-game server browser or an invite.
  3. Keep the world vanilla: one mod in the server's Mods folder locks every console player out.

Once you are in, everything on this site applies to every platform: the same Navezgane map, the same loot stage math and the same blood moon hordes.
